Instead of vases or such, I hoped as gifts for a variety of wooden objects or pieces of material for artistic purposes. I ended up receiving almost a hundred different wood-related items, ranging from toothpicks to wooden skis and from tree trunks to a poetry book. Over the past year, I have been organizing, documenting, dismantling, chopping, and otherwise working with these gifts in my studio. In my upcoming exhibition, all the gifts I have received will be used somehow as part of the artworks in the exhibition.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n\t<div  class=\"ktt-media-and-text mt-0 text-body bg-body ktt-media-and-text--manual\" data-bs-theme=light>\n\t\t<div class=\"container-xxl\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"row align-items-center g-md-0\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ktt-media-and-text__media-container col-12 col-md-6 order-first order-md-first\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"w-100\" src=\"https:\/\/kuvataidetalo.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Hanna-Vahvaselka-768x1028.jpg\" alt=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ktt-media-and-text__text-container col-12 col-md-6\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"ktt-media-and-text__title \">Hanna Vahvaselk\u00e4<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"ktt-media-and-text__description\"><p>Hanna Vahvaselk\u00e4 is a sculptor, living and working in Mikkeli, eastern Finland. At present she is also a doctoral candidate at Academy of Fine Arts, Uniarts, Helsinki. Her material is wood, with which she has worked since 1999. In her work, wood is the material and the creator of visual appearance, and part of the conceptual content<br \/>\nfor example, as intergenerational meanings or questions arising from the forest ecology.
