The Finnish Painters Union is a national organisation of professional painters in Finland, founded in 1929, with around 1 550 members. It works to promote the visual arts and to improve the professional and social interests of artists. It has a gallery, an artists’ agency and an office in Helsinki. In addition to the gallery activities, the association also has other exhibition activities. The association provides its members with a range of services needed by artists, including advice on tax and social issues and information on current professional issues. The association acts as an expert on the visual arts vis-à-vis the authorities.
