About the exhibition
The December exhibition at Galleria Kuvitus is based on the picture book Minä en pelkää (I Am Not Afraid), co-created with author J.S. Meresmaa (Enostone, 2024). The book tells the story of Lola, a girl who loves fireworks but is afraid of dogs.
The energetic character dressed in yellow and blue was created by Meria Palin while listening to war news, and the process of creating this character was both comforting and empowering for the illustrator. The exhibition highlights the significance of turning the pages of the picture book. The wax crayon illustrations and spreads are peacefully simple, yet the story flows forward.
