About the piece
En kai huonoon aikaan soittele? | Am I Calling You at a Bad Time? (2024)
00:15:00
X grows up in the 1990s, makes prank calls as a child, and lands their first job as a telemarketer during their teenage years. The smells of the office, heavy breathers, and meaningless greetings follow them from one workplace to another.
This piece, constructed from archival and amateur video material, follows X as a faceless subject using their voice as a commercial commodity. Am I Calling You at a Bad Time? is an experimental fictional story inspired by individual experiences.
The production has been supported by the Promotion Centre for Audiovisual Culture (AVEK), the Oskar Öflund Foundation, and the Olga and Vilho Linnamo Foundation. It was produced by Kenno Filmi, with additional support for the artist’s work from the Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
